Melynda Baker is an accomplished disabled athlete, who competes in handcycling and outrigger canoe racing. Melynda was on the 2008 Outrigger Canoe Team that won two Silver Medals at the IVF World Sprints.
Baker was born in Illinois and still resides there as well as splitting her time between Florida and Minnesota for training.
Baker, who lost her left leg and suffered other injures following a 2001 automobile accident. Now 40, she’s never let that slow her down and has since won her division of marathons in Miami, Palm Beach, Cleveland, Detroit and Los Angeles., and spends much of her time as a peer mentor and coach with the Achilles Freedom Team.
